DDDA travel expenses and board fees cost €530,000
Former Anglo Irish Bank executives among those to benefit
The Dublin Docklands Development Authority (DDDA) racked up more than €530,000 on travel expenses for executives, board members and staff, together with fees for board members, between 2006 and 2008.http://www.tribune.ie/business/article/2009/feb/08/ddda-travel-expenses-and-board-fees-cost-530000/
jdivisionParticipantNot sure but would the proposal be the OPW/Clancourt jv? Would explain a lot
“In addition, Clancourt, the development company belonging to Charlie Kenny and his family, will redevelop houses it owns on Earlsfort Terrace along with the OPW’s building on Hatch Street.”

Today’s indo outlining the dispute between Dunnes and Harry Crosbie. It seems that Dunnes have been trying to delay/pull out of this deal since last Summer. Pure speculation, but I would guess this is why progress on the Tower stopped shortly afterwards…
The tower’s not part of the shopping centre. It’s been delayed to allow a new planning application be lodged. I’ve been told that by Crosbie’s advisers so presume it’s true.

Yeah, it’s amazing the same paper ran essentially the same article a few weeks ago. Gap is taking part of it they said then. olivia doesn’t seem to have checked their own archive.

Oh come on now we have our fair share of urban slums here too in what is rapidly becoming a welfare society of 2 tiers, the super rich elite class and the ‘slum dogs’ to coin your phrase. Also freedom is a very all encompassing word don’t you think?, we should trademark that word. I’m sure the people in UAE have had enough of hypocritical westerners telling them of ‘freedom’ meanwhile we show how greedy and corrupt we are with our unbridled greed, bailouts, economic collapse, creation of a welfare state and the top greedy exec’s and ceo’s resigning in droves with their millions. As the late great george carlin once said of western society, Your free, free to make s(((y small decisions like what cigarettes you can buy, what color car you can have, what magazine you can read, but beneath it all your still a slave to corporate capitalism, one with little to no power in the real decision making which runs your life. Freedom my arse..
40c an hour, your passport taken away and only immigrant labour being treated like that is essentially slave labour tfarmer. The people of the UAE aren’t treated like that. you’re not perhance BostonorBerlin

This is an example of decent contemporary in-fill on O’Connell Street (by the same Limerick architects who are doing that scheme (with the medieval fireplace) at 36-39 Nicholas Street). There’s no question that the architectural skill are there, what is required, is more hands-on guidance by the Planning authorities to set out the boundaries.Looks surprisingly like O’Connell Street in Dublin

Tis indeed. Not quite slap bang in the middle of it:

Yep, granted around December 17. 32 conditions.

According to the Sunday Business Post yesterday, Harry Crosbie has denied that the project is on hold for a year.
I suspect they’re wrong. He’s going to go for change of use on it

Hmmm… Looks as if there’s a fair bit to let there yet…
All the retail is let, the offices aren’t and could be a hard sell in current market

Am I right in thinking that Crosbie has owned this land for donkey’s years and so the land cost is virtually zero? .
He owned part of the site for a long time but bought up other parts in recent years at fairly juicy prices

jdivisionParticipantAnnouncement due today that it’s being delayed by a year. surprise surprise
jdivisionParticipantLooks like the junction of Ardee Street and Cork Street a few years ago. That building was in terrible condition and the old stone building opposite it, which was since restored, looked terrible

jdivisionParticipantI think it’s dreadful and have thought so since the “brickwork” was unveiled. The projecting windows look ridiculous, the whole scheme screams of a lack of imagination. To be honest Graham, I expected a damning critique so am a bit surprised by most of your comments. As for the snag on the side elevation, I hope it’s not an intentional feature, much like MOL’s (?) one at Broadstone.
jdivisionParticipantThat’s phase one, a second phase is planned
