So is Water Street officially dead?
IrishtownParticipantI bet they wait till U2, along with the rest of us anticipating it, are dead. 😡
IrishtownParticipantWow, so the new buildings- I’ve seen some of the smaller proposals in addition to Santry Cross, but are there any plans of anything close to that scale? Such as groups of identical buildings like these that will be dismantled?

There was a site notice on the property last week applying for alterations, although the changes sought looked quite minor it wasn’t dated. On the Tara Street site? Good. Maybe theres still hope.
IrishtownParticipantHere are some Boland’s Mill pictures:
IrishtownParticipantWater Street was shot down? I must’ve missed the news. They’d rather preserve a dilapidated old bunch of warehouses? Shame.
I don’t know much about An Taisce, but lexington & diaspora both have strong arguments and make valid points.
IrishtownParticipantIt’s going to take a while to get rid of all of these buildings. theres close to thirty, isn’t there?
IrishtownParticipantSo is the Clarion Hotel only 6 stories? I thought it was 8.
Or are they saying heightwise in metres and not stories? Because office floors are taller than hotel floors typically, so I guess they could be equal height and still be 8 and 6 floors.

I think that is the Riverside Gateway development, designed by Tom Philips and Associates and financed by Fordmount Properties. There was supposed to be a fifteen-storey tower, but I think it was reduced in planning (although the lift shaft under construction is about ten storeys, so that might be it).
I agree with Paul though; I can’t see any beauty in the building.I emailed the guy at Limerick.com and he said that the building under construction in that photo was to be one of the tallest in Limerick, so maybe it is that 15 storey tower after all.
IrishtownParticipantWhere is that- Ugly Street? They’re all pretty horrible.

irishtown, convince us…Convince you that it’s nice? No. Its all in opinion.
I think the glassed curved-corner is the best feature and I do like how the incorporated the brick. Its not too much, but it fits they building quite nicely, I’d say.

i think what this building needs is a nice mansard roof.hahaha 🙂
IrishtownParticipantI still think its a nice building.
Andrew, if it is the Riverside Gateway, what type of developement is this? I can find nothing about it when I search online.
IrishtownParticipantI don’t know what you mean….
IrishtownParticipantSWEET!
IrishtownParticipant🙂 Good to see its finally happening. It sorta marks the beginning of the end of an era, though.

Here’s a night image of it which I think shows it off a bit better:http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Haven/2856/tribute/commercial/addams3.jpg
You’ll have to copy and paste the URL to see it.
This building looks silly. its as if it was an old building and they reclad the facade to make it look absolutely absurd at an attempt to get attention. Or it looks as if they built the roof later out of boredom. Either way, I can’t say I like it. I don’t hate it, I just think it looks a bit silly.
IrishtownParticipantYou’re right, Paul.
