ForzaIrlandaParticipant
One word-FARCE 🙂
ForzaIrlandaParticipantIt probably wont take 2 years, I’d say he means 2 years from when they broke ground, not from this point on, because its taken them 9 months (just guessing there) from when they started on site to get to this stage.
ForzaIrlandaParticipantI’m surprised that that much work has been done on the bridge already. I was down there last week and had a look from the docklands station into spencer dock and didnt see much (admittedly its not that close to the bridge site and I just assumed that whatever was going on there was normal work on the SD development).
ForzaIrlandaParticipantThe luas will most likely be up and running before the tower’s finished
Dont they have to build the bridge through Spencer dock first though, and that probably wont start for a while until most of the spencer dock development is nearly finished.
ForzaIrlandaParticipantGood old Ireland eh 😀
ForzaIrlandaParticipantYup this is the one being held up by the fire cert, f*&^ knows what takes so long, apparently they needed more renders before approving the fire cert.
ForzaIrlandaParticipantYeh I’m really eager to find out what’s going in there as wel. I walked by the site and thought that it looked like quite a large development, not something that would end up with a run of the mill 4 storey apartment block.
ForzaIrlandaParticipantTrue the design is very bland but hopefully when we get the first skyscraper out of the way we might get some good looking designs, (like the bank of China tower in Hong Kong or something that actually looks different), for future ones. Although this could work the other way if the Watchtower looks crap when it’s built.
Here’s the Bank of China tower for those who haven’t seen it.
ForzaIrlandaParticipantI have to say I’m glad that Hadid’s design wasn’t chosen. It’s really weird looking. And that bit that slinks along and joins up with the tower element of the building looks stupid the way it juts out over the road/river ( I dont know how far out it goes).
ForzaIrlandaParticipantI dont know about a Terminal 2, seems to me that with current capacity (and the fact that Gatwick manages fine), that Terminal 1 should be bulldozed and replaced by a proper one
Gatwick has a North and South terminl which are basically 2 terminals and if we bulldozed our terminal what would we do while the new one was being built?
ForzaIrlandaParticipantEqual height or higher, it’s probabl one of the best sites in the country in terms of convenience to public transport.
ForzaIrlandaParticipantI saw these pics of a similar tower to U2 on another website. The tower is in Sarajevo.
