DO BOTH, Dublin needs as much public transport as possible to get the 70% of commuters who use their car, out of their cars. Throwing more buses at the problem, no matter how inexpensive they are, it is not a solution when the roads are so congested.

The Platform11 suggestions are great ideas that can be implemented quickly and will help but they aren’t a panacea. Dublin is growing and needs to do more than reopen a few disused train lines. It needs a metro. Whole areas of Dublin are just not served properly by public transport and this needs to be addressed.

The percentage of commuters using public transport needs to be trebled to do this we need to provide a proper integrated transport system.

Gaberiel has some new photos up. The good sized crowd shows the interest in the Luas, I think its going to be very popular once it gets going.

I wonder has a tram crossed the nine arches yet. Can’t wait to see this.

Are thoes photos taken using filters or is it down to the development that the colours are so rich esp. the sky is so blue?

I can’t find the map where I originally came across the contra flow but here is a document outlining it.

Cycle routes southbound across O’Connell Bridge along Westmoreland St.

Believe it or not there was a plan at one stage to have a contra flow cycle lane on Westmoreland st.

I couldn’t believe it when I saw it first. I’ll try and dig out the document it not to old either.

I hope the book market is a success. Its quite an exposed area!

The cafes on the board walk seem to have weathered the initial scepticism.

Very unusual failure. If the crane was lifting a load at the time you’d understand. But to fail like this when unloaded, regardless of the wind, is very worring.

Crossed Gattan Bridge this morning and Pierse where digging up the new paving in very specific places.

Looks like they are unearthing services for the long awaited book stalls. Could this be true? Can anyone confirm?

If McCreevy has anything to do with it, it will probably have one. 😉

Will Lansdowne be built under the new fast track infrastructure law being brought in for the Metro (read Roads )?

And where are the matches going to be played during redeveloped? I didn’t hear anyone from the IRFU or the FAI answer that question yet. Bet they are still hoping for Crokers to be opened up.

Can we expect a announcement soon by the GAA that they are going to lease out the ground, now that the decision has been made?
    😮

What about BJ Marine on the south campshire will that eventually go too?

I’m really looking forward to the Calatrava’s Macken St road bridge. I think it will be fantastic addition to the area and to traffic flow!

The Government has also committed itself to the development – when money is available – of a new sport campus involving an indoor arena at Abbottstown.

Read as: “it would be nice idea to build a new sport campus involving an indoor arena at Abbottstown but it will never happen”
