It is a bit eastern bloc/communist looking but wouldn’t say terrible.

Great bridges. Both by Roughan & O’Donovan (http://www.rod.ie) in association with Maunsell.

The Boyne bridge was attractive enough for An Post to use it to commemorate the Irish Presidency of the European Union.

Don’t know the routes myself but some people who should are the bus enthusiasts here and they are very quiet on this issue.

Isn’t the area outside the Loretto going to be a contra flow bus lane so the Loretto brigade would have to park in it if they were to pick up their darlings where they do now but that wouldn’t surprise me?

If you want to get to Adelaide Rd you could go around Merrion Square and along all the Fitzwilliam St’s until you are on Adelaide road. Not ideal for a motorist but I think that is the point, make it difficult for motorists travelling trough the heart of the city.

I agree that Pembroke St could become a bit of a nightmare and something should be done at this junction.

One possible solution to the problem is if the DCC gave up the lucrative parking spots on the St Stephens Green East or at least made the cars park parallel to the side of the green and then add another lane to this side of the green for traffic going south. Two going north and one bus and one normal lane going south.

I think they are just covering their ass with this statement I can’t see the second phase getting delayed for a year. The first phase will be such a success compared to the current situation plus what difference is waiting for a year going to make? Wish “reversing the traffic on Hume Street and Ely Place” was part of the first phase. Bring it on say I.

Well – that maroon red colour is the standard colour steel comes in from the factory so I thought it was going to be painted. That defiantly gave me the feeling it wasn’t finished.

I wonder have the DCC any plans on improving the way trade refuse is collected especially waste from the fast food outlets. Other wise any shinny new pavement out side McD’s is just going to be blackened in days! It really is disgrace full how rubbish collection can cause some much litter.

I was on O’Connell St the other night after a few pints and the lighting is excellent if bit orange! Maybe that was the pints!

Do you think that is the final colour of the charlemont bridge? It’s pretty bright!

Totally understand – I was just interested and didn’t mean to put you under any extra pressure.

Maybe you should delegate to someone with more time!

Best of luck with Phantom FM, it deserves a licence.

Any one passed the Kiosks recently?

They have added horrendous tower lights, ala the smashed ones in Temple Bar, about 2-2.5 storeys high to each corner of each of the kiosks.

This area has gone from a refreshing open space to a very cluttered and cramped space. I was really looking forward to the Kiosks and will hold final judgement till they are finally up and running but its not looking good.

I’ll try and get a pic at some stage.

I’d be surprised, the luas.ie website isn’t even kept up to date never mind adding that type of functionality to it.

    What a great word!

It was possible to engineer the hill to look like the other stands in the ground but I think the GAA were correct in leaving it pretty much intact as is. This way it will conserve the great tradition and atmosphere that is the hill. Having another tier over your head just wouldn’t be the same.

It also adds a bit of quirkiness to the ground. It will never feel like one of these soulless out of town super stadia as you can always get a view of the city in the background.

Just because most stadia have four equal sides doesn’t mean Croke Park has to and that’s what I like that about it even if it was a result of a fiscal decision and some ardent Dubs.

Yeah it won’t be long now and they’ll be rebuilding the freshly laid island at the junction ofSt Stephens Green South and West.
