I read this very interseting thread and it needs to be said roundabouts on National roads are a disgrace, why couldn’t they get it right like every other country? How many roundabouts do you see in America?

Were they ever cleaned before or is this a once off project?

There is nothing with people from rural areas building houses in rural areas, how can measures that help rural people be bad or would you want them all driven into cities?

Ceepee I stand corrected regarding your re-appearance, the point I was making was a general one and NOT directed at you personally, I wish you good luck in finding an architect but would advise that you could have found 20 almost identical threads by using the search function.

This is illegal under EU law. At which point someone challenges the law saying that they are being discriminated against because of where they were born and everything becomes a free-for-all

Do we not have enough of them meddling Brussells bureaucrats as it is. Why should we listen to them that has already concreted all over their own places?

I think these measures are long over due for far too long people have been complaining about people doing what they want to do. Thanks to Dick Roche the nanny state is gone.

    Advice welcome.

Use the Golden Pages like everyone else. I hate discussion forums where people post a new thread without searching to find the 100 other identical threads to theirs and then don’t even bother to let people know how they got on. Does this annoy anyone else or do you just not bother replying? 🙁

That is good news, does anyone have a date for the re-opening?

I can remember many very late nights / early mornings spent in Bewleys having breakfast after a night on the rip it would be good if Cafe Bar do a hot deli like was done in the early 90’s

300 people are going to sleep in a fire hazard hostel on Gardiner street tonight despite the fact that everyone is aware of its non-compliance with fire regulations. The link looks pretty clear to me.

That is seriously taking the piss

It does seem like the ultimate invasion of privacy, I do feel that the management company should have looked at other means of increasing revenue such as increasing management charges on the common areas.

That could put older people under pressure financially, the question I would ask is this; can the management company justify this?

SW101 Thanks for clearing everything up: my freind went to the Civic Offices last week and had a chat with a planner who told him that once they were satisfied that the job would be professionally supervised they didn’t see it as a reason to refuse planning permission. You are so right that it was his attitude to fire laws and threatening behaviour that was worse than anything else.

    PS My freind says thanks

Yes the Canal has really improved over the years making the few sections that are still rough looking overdue a makeover. Taking the train to Sligo you can really see how the Canal acts as such an amenity for all the housing out around Leixlip and the suburbs closer in. I hope that someone can come up with a good design as it could be a good asset for Dublin.

Thanks for that Kefu there have been a lot of rumours in the press but I’ve not seen anything as definite as that from any other source. I like the cafebardeli in Georges Street (never been to the one in ranelagh)

Was the story in yesterdays Irish Times that Bewleys is going to become an Ann Summers an April Fools joke?

Does anyone know who is going to reopen Bewleys or when it is going to be revamped into another shop?

That sounds like Spencer Dock, does anyone have a link to any of the other proposals or will it be Spencer Dock or Mansfields giant legoland?

That building really would put Drogheda on the map and it is about time we started to go up instead of out in this country. This skyscraper of a building looks like the kind of building that would look good in a few years not like Ballymun.
