A former RAF station, in July 1959 the decision was made to move civil flights to Aldergrove to take advantage of the large airfield and this took place in October 1963.
During the 1960s, new departure gate piers were added adjacent to the original Dublin airport terminal of 1939 to cope with larger aircraft.
With its steel and glass facade, the new terminal makes use of natural light to create a modern and comfortable space for both departing and arriving passengers.
