was never huge fan of twin towers morlan, look too boring to me
but the sheer size would be impressive im sure. i never got to see them in person as i arrived here a couple
of weeks after sept 11.
apparently, at the top if you leaned your head against the glass you could feel the building swaying in the wind
if your interested in nyc photos of buildings etc, have a look around this:http://skyscrapercity.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=105
last picture! lookin west with tiny portion of brookln queens waterfront with new jersey far side of the city – who needs the twin towers!
(the big green one on waters edge casting reflection – u.n buiding – ruins skyline)

new york ugly?? you must never have been here!paul hParticipantit actually looks very big in that rendering greg f
it stands up well to the empire state which i see every day and that is pretty huge
maybe a little shorter and narrower would be more accurate??
but nonetheless looks good….. they built the empire state in 18 mths back in 1930(its true), whats the chances of them
gettin the finger out on this one!!!:Dpaul hParticipanthats off to the u2 building, that is a real landmark and heuston gate looks even better
the unison report seemed v positive,
it was funny when they said they didnt think dublin would become like an asian or american city! no sh*t!!
we’re only building a couple of very small high rises people
but just to put it in perspective i had to stick this pic in
does there seem to be a shift in the attitude to high rise buidings in ireland?? (because of this positive article)
not to be negative but that alto vetro rendering is ugly anyone agree, not a fan of blocky type buildings
it would be great if anyone one out there with a bit of computer skills and time on there hands could show us
how our u2 tower would stand up to these giantspaul hParticipantAMAZING!! looking at this http://www.rpa.ie/?id=289
huge project no doubt, but no southside plans seems strange, ah well
February 23, 2006 at 1:45 am in reply to: Dublin Airport Metro to have unconnected terminus? #749524paul hParticipanttotally agree with sue
thomand park – those points you made, i think these things happen everywhere not just ireland
although tea pot crack was funny! and prob truebuild an airport link above ground until it hits say ballymun area then underground, with local stops into city centre
one ticket should get you on dart, luas and this airport link, with transfers onto dublin bus
heuston should be linked with connoly – under ground with commuter stops for greater dublin area north and west.
everywhere there is rail transportation should be built up HIGH density
and anyone who tries to stop us will be crushed , moo ha, ha – sorry joking
(true i am using nyc as a model but i’m sure we could build something similar lot smaller of course!)
ireland has to be the most frustrating country when it comes to this eternal squabbling about simple things like building a bloody rail linepaul hParticipantalso i posted thishttp://80southstreettower.com it also removed:confused:
i know its not dublin but i thought it was pretty damn spectacular and maybe somethin of interest cos he designing something in the dockspaul hParticipanti’d love too see a list (pics would be nice) of TALL or REASONABLY TALL buildings going up in or around dublin which are actually being built or are defo gonna be built.
paul hParticipantlooks great sounds great
but our leaders do not have the liathroidi (balls!!) to go start anythin like thispaul hParticipanthard to tell PTB
there is no UNIQUE big structures existing in dublin that stick in your mindpaul hParticipantdisgusting chimney stacks as an icon of a city???
come on people get a grip!!
serious lack of landmarks in dublin if this is all we gotpaul hParticipant@Devin wrote:
Back again I see ……. you really ought to try’n disguise yourself a little more convincingly.
that was my 1st post on this site !!
i havent stepped foot in ‘da ould sod’ in over 4 yrs!!paul hParticipantits depressing reading about nearly all decent tall buldings not going ahead
im living in nyc 4 yrs now but orig from the big smoke (dublin!!) no shortage here of
amazing buildings to look at
people have to wake up, its the future – we cant keep building 4 or 5 story structures in city centre
and 2 story semi d’s a couple of mins outside ‘downtown’ (sorry!!)nothin new in this post i know, but i had to say it
its seems people are v narrow minded when it comes to this
But from living in new york i see that rail transportation is essential to keeping high rise living going
7 mill people use nyc subway every dayp.s u2 tower looks pretty nice
