The present St. John’s Church was built in 1789 and substantially extended in 1854 by Joseph Welland.
Centred in the middle of Mount Street Crescent, St Stephens’ is better known to Dubliners as the Peppercanister due its distinctive spire.
The Court House was probably designed by Joseph Welland, a student of John Bowden, and cost around £10,000.
The foundation stone of St Mary’s was laid in 1827 and the church consecrated in April 1830.
An early-Victorian Gothic Revival church with an unusual combination of small belfry and large porch. It retains its original form and much of its original fabric and fittings.
Erected in 1840 on top of a Norman motte. Designed by the architect Joseph Welland with a fine pinnacled tower.
