The church is situated opposite the Roman Catholic Cathedral of St. Eunan and St. Columba in the centre of Letterkenny. Parts of the church dates back to the 17th century but the current form is largely 19th century as the south aisle was added in 1865 to designs by Welland &
The Hibernian Bank aggressively pursued the business of the new Catholic middle classes, and in doing so,
“This building, of which we gave exterior and interior views with last number, has been erected in Letterkenny,
Designed by William Hague & completed under supervision of T.F. McNamara in a Victorian neo-Gothic style on a site overlooking the town.
Probably designed by T.F. McNamara, former partner of William Hague, who completed the nearby cathedral after Hague’s death;
Odd castle-like school by T.F. McNamara, who had recently completed Hague’s cathedral in the town, when he was commissioned.
First Letterkenny Church was completely rebuilt in 1909 but 12 years later was destroyed by a fire,
