The DenouncerParticipant
I heard a report the other day that this planning application has been rejected.
The DenouncerParticipantI heard the ‘debacle’ at the time wasn’t solely due to the lack of stadia in Ireland, but problems in Scotland aswell.
The DenouncerParticipantRyanair submits objection to airport terminal plans
26/09/2006 – 12:07:47Ryanair has submitted an objection to Fingal County Council against the Dublin Airport Authority’s plans for a second passenger terminal.
The airline claims the DAA’s plans are badly designed and overpriced and will result in tax increases for passengers.
It is proposing that it build the terminal itself in a different location and at a third of the price put forward by the airport authority.
Ryanair claims it can construct the facility for €250m, with a greater passenger capacity than that proposed by the DAA.
The DenouncerParticipantIt’s like they’re working from 1950’s blueprints..that’ll be directly opposite Alto Vetro aswell.
The DenouncerParticipantRPA dude was on Newstalk a few minutes ago, and not only is the main Metro stop going under the liffey with entrances north and south, but the Airport stop will be in the new terminal, not the Great Southern Hotel. He also said there will be a stop at Drumcondra.
The DenouncerParticipantEverything of worth in the city will be completed by 2013
The DenouncerParticipantAh here I was looking forward to seeing the ‘Red Carpet’ effect. They should actually extend it so the Viking tour can’t get past.
The DenouncerParticipantYeah there used to be a cottage there. I’m keeping my eye on this development from where I work, and Grand Canal Square (a lot more red poles seem to have gone up).
The DenouncerParticipantMore than 30 appeals have been lodged against the planned €350million redevlopment of Lansdowne Road.
Locals in leafy Ballsbridge area of Dublins southside are fiercely oppossed to the plans and have vowed to fight it all the way.
An Bord Pleanala confirmed it had received 33 objections by 5pm Monday, the closing date of the appeals.
At least 10 campaigners also requested an oral hearing be held in relation to the planning application, which could delay the project indefinitely. An objection has been lodged by Dr. Anne Twomey from Lansdowne Lane for example, which now sits in the shadow of the stadiums west stand. She insists it will double the height.
Residents in the Lansdowne area object to the new stands which rise to 48.5m, much higher that the Croke Park stands, which reas 35m.
Inspectors will now be appointed to compile a new report on the project, scheduled to be ready in December. The DenouncerParticipantOriginally posted by Graham Hickey
Anyone have any idea as to the capacity of the redeveloped Point?14,000 I believe
The DenouncerParticipantU2 aren’t moving to Holland, just their finances. Therefore you will see them heli-coptering on top of their tower as planned, in 2009.
The DenouncerParticipantThat last one looks like Gordon St. off Barrow St. Used to live there.
You can see the muck scraper beside the drainpipe at ground level, they used to scrape their boots off it.The DenouncerParticipantI tell you one thing – I hate walking up Barrow St. these days. Its a horrible, mucky gritty mess of a street with never-ending developments and more to come. If you can get from one end to the other without getting eyes full of dirt then fair play.
The DenouncerParticipantPauline Palmer, local resident:
“This development will take away from my skyline. Everyone here will be affected by this”
The DenouncerParticipantI always said there should be more advertising blimps in the city
The DenouncerParticipantThey will look great flanking the Sam Beckett Bridge.
The DenouncerParticipantThey’re looking for ancient books of psalms and other religious curios
The DenouncerParticipantWhy don’t they pull the spire out of O’Connell St., and stick it on top of the U2 Tower? Not only will it improve the look of the capitals main thoroughfare, but it will double the height of this ‘landmark building’. 🙂
The DenouncerParticipantI look forward to looking down and seeing the Sam Beckett Bridge, flanked by the U2 Tower and Point Village Tower. As I said before, we are in a period of transition, a wealthy country with the mentality of a poor one. And very conservative. This will change over time, but at the moment all we can do is look at countries with greater vision, who got there first.
The DenouncerParticipantYou are right Peter, its very similar. Very bland and unexciting.
