Ah here lads, was in city centre the other day and can’t even cross the street, except for a gap at Abbey St. Its awful! All the people milling around, and every day hoping it’ll be cleared up. how long is this going on for? How can a single street take so long to be redeveloped? When is it due to be complete? I denounce this overlong farce.

Ah yes trams running down O’Connell St. just like the olde days to be sure!
I’m sure they’ll read the card I sent them and say “hmm yes, maybe the Metro shouldn’t stop at the Great Southern Hotel”

Obviously Michael O’Leary doesn’t live in Swords! I do and I’m salivating for the Metro. Salivating.

Maybe they should take the spire and stick it on top of the U2 tower, double the height! Well, a lot of the other tall buildings seem to have done similar anyway..

Don’t know about that GregF, bit smaller perhaps? Then again the Pyramid of Cheops looks half the height of the Eiffel Tower in the pic yet its 1/3 the height in actuality.

Yeah its crazy, the U2 Tower which will look like a giant (about the same height as the Spire) is still only just over a third the height of the Eiffel Tower, and look where that is in the pic above! However when people see it built I’m sure within a few years the 200M height will be broken.

Thats interesting Keen, U2 Tower 120M! Very nice.
Also that second link http://www.treasuryholdings.ie/development/project_detail.asp?id=118&category=Residential&cat=1, thats right opposite Bolands Flour mills and very close to the new Docklands Public Space..since the Bolands Mills was bought for €42 Million I would like to see what is going to take the place of the grey facia section. Exciting times around that area but still a bit of a mess at the moment, would love to take a peek 10 years into the future to get an idea of how its going to look!

Yes so do I. 600 gardai hopefully should keep an eye on the troublemakers. There will be some trouble but any rioters would have to be asked – what are you rioting about this time, fool?

I got it in the post! I suppose only people on the 3 proposed routes got a RPA booklet detailing with the Porto metro on the cover and with a map detailing the routes with a suggestion card to fill in and send back, freepost. Or as it just Swords that got this?

I live in Swords, got a thing in the door about this, with the 3 routes highlighted. Would regard the East route as the best..as my sister lives on Griffith avenue and my wife works in Drumcondra! Not sure about the stop at The Great Southern Hotel though. Filled out the card and sent it in anyway.

Its funny travelling through the city today with all these developments, theres a real feeling that the city is in a process of transition, but my impatience is wearing thin at Tara St. and its ‘temporary’ plywood hoardings. Spencer Dock station will be fully built by the time Tara St. is finished! And am I the only one sick of grafitti? Now on the unfinished paint job at Grand Canal Dock there is grafitti that makes no sense whatsoever.

I think the Garda on the ground did a great job in many ways .. all in all it could have been a total disaster with orange marchers injured or worse, or people killed either by the rioters or the gardai. Its obviousl that they completely under-estimated the gouger factor in this city, especially the scum that poured out of the pubs on O’Connell St.
The Garda Helicopter was grounded..do we only have 1 garda helicopter? Or was this a joke.
No water cannons either..why were they so poorly supplied? Obviously a complete lack of intelligence gathering. Maybe they were afraid to antagonise the Orange Order.
I don’t think it will happen again on this scale to be honest they should have learned their lesson.. however if 500 gardai can wait around Air Force One in Shannon, then surely double that can be deployed on St. Patricks Day.

Looking forward to this. I work within sight of it..toook a wander over a few days ago – those poles are huge! It’ll be interesting to see it when completed. Hopefully not a target for the grafitti gobsheen Grift who has scrawled over every wall in the vicinity. 10 years behind bars I’d give him and his ilk.

I felt sick as news filtered through about this. How many of these Irish scumbags have no pride in their capital city? Looking at it on the News I felt embarrassed and resigned that so many fools, so many troublemakers walk amongst us. Thicks. No political knowledge, no interest in the city, no interest in anything. All they know is how to smash things, break things, burn things, rob things. Brainless scum makes me embarassed to be Irish. I hate them. 😡

Fair enough ctesiphon! Not all are NIMBYS. Theres a lot of them without the undertsanding you obviously have though, that wish to object to everything like Ian “NO” Paisley. Those are the guys you have to watch out for.
It’ll be interesting to see what happens with Lansdowne..as Wembley opens, and Welsh supporters point and laugh at our 120 year old stadium I hope that this is not delayed “because there will be a shadow on my rose bush”!

How can you bring up abortion, ctesiphon? Cities need to be developed, not left to rot in a stagnant state with NIMBYs crying out against floodlights and a roof on Croke Park, a prison in sparcely populated Rolestown, the height of Lansdowne, a runway at Dublin Airport, traffic distruption caused by building improved public transport..etc.etc.etc every time I open the paper all I see is objection objection objection, not just the Ireland on Sunday by any means!
I get the feeling you had a good whine yourself against somethign being built nearby..a 3G mast or something. Tin foil on the head is a good guard against radiation, apparently.
