reminds me of the sherry fitzgerald brochure for their development in Dunboyne castle (still available). The map of the estate features a Dart station right outside the main entrance of the estate. Firstly Dunboyne might never get the Dart and secondly if it does the station will be on the other side of town and nowhere near the estate!

how do these guys get away with such deliberate misrepresentation! somebody should buy a house and then sue them for misleading advertising if and when the first Dart runs to Dunboyne station 1.5 miles away on the other side of the town.

I don’t understand why they have to raise the landing charge by 50% (from e5 to e 7.5). After all the terminal is due to cost only 200 million and the extra 15 million passengers will pay 75million in charges a year at the current rate!

if you take the N59 from westport to leenaun (nice though this is) you’re missing the most dramatic route in the west – westport to leenaun through louisburgh and the delphi valley. The view of doo lough when the road finally crests the long hill from louisburgh is the simply finest scenery available from tarmac in Ireland. If you want better than this you need to get your boots on.

ive seen the boat plying the waves down at the IFSC but its not operating for paying passengers yet . Looks well but it seems that there’s no outside seating so passengers will all be cooped up inside.

sorry to go back a few posts but I have to say that there is plenty of grounds for justifying the O’Casey bridge (opens todays btw). the distance between phase 2 ifsc and pearse st station will be halved by the new crossing not to mention the improved access to the docklands.
The uninterrupted river stretch between the Matt talbot and the east link was far too long and added to the artificialdivision of the city between North and Southside.

i’d be concerned over the visual impact on the royal hospital and the memorial gardens. This could dominate bothif it is as near to them as the picture seems to suggest.

I reckon Maynooth should get a mention – well ordered main street, the seminary, the castle, abbey and seminary. The royal canal way passes the largest harbour on the canal 100 metres from the town centre while at the east end of the main street there’s a very pleasant tree lined walkway to Carton House. Bucketloads of history here too.

definitely worth a visit but access should be improved and linked with nearby stephen’s green.

afraid so graham, always have hated that corner!

Think you’re a bit unfair to connolly – the new luas entrance is striking.

I don’t see why you can’t move the procathedral brick by brick. It struck me as absurd when the corteege for the kevin barry funeral paraded up o’connell street and then had to snake around behind to the cathedral entrance. I ebleive it was alwys meant for o’connell street but i defer to our historical experts on that.

Forgot to mention the old department of justice.

All in all a few well placed wrecking balls would make a massive difference.

Hi there, I’m new to this site but i’d suggest perhaps the following to improve Dublin (of which i am very fond!)-

    buildings that must go –

Hawkins street house, Screen College Green, apollo house and liberty hall – The ugliest few acres in the country
    O’Connell Bridge House
    Loop line bridge

    buildings that should go –
    BHS O’Connell Street
the horrific glass section of arnotts Henry Street
monstrosity on top of grafton street (no not the Shopping centre but the newsagent)
Canada House stephen’s green – it would be wonderful to see a walkway through here to the underutilised iveagh gardens

    Advertising to be removed –
    Loop line bridge hoardings
Baileys and Irish permanent on O’Connell bridge

    Pedestrianise –
College Green / Dame street / North quays (this’ll never happen but one can dream)

    Move –
The procathedral onto O’Connell street – the derelict Carlton site

Best things to happen to Dublin last 10 years –

millennium bridge and new docklands bridge
    boardwalk
screen o’connell bridge is forever gone.
    connolly station
    collins barracks
