I’ve finally found a forum for my question!
Could anyone tell me what building codes you use in Ireland (specifically Dublin) and how I could get a copy? Is there a website where I could download them or get a paper copy by contacting the right people? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I’ve been searching the internet and haven’t been able to find anything… -
Uniform building regulations apply in all parts of the Republic of Ireland since 1991. The current regulations are dated 1997. The regulations are expressed as a series of succinct performance requirements in relation to twelve different ‘parts’ of building design – structure, fire safety, site preparation and resistance to moisture, materials and workmanship, ventilation, etc, etc.
Guidance with regard to compliance with the regulations is provided in a suite of Technical Guidance Documents – one TGD per ‘part’ of the regulations. The TGDs are periodically revised and updated, eg http://www.planningpermission.ie/pcie/regulations/pdf/Amendments.pdf

The state agency, FAS, has prepared some training CDs which might be useful, although I do not know whether these may be used for distance learning – you can enquire: http://www.fas.ie/environmental_training_unit/building_control.html
