1968 – Rowan House Apartments, Ballsbridge, Dublin
Architect: Tyndall Hogan Hurley
One of two similar blocks just off Sussex Road, part of a large development constructed over twenty years starting in the early 1950s. Privately constructed and owned, the apartments were the first modern postwar flat development in Dublin. This building is related to Richard Hurley’s Nurses Home in Drogheda which predates it by several years. Both finished in brick, externally expressed stairwells, and expanding out into the surrounding landscape with brick walls and seating.
