St. Augustine Presbyterian Church, now Augustine United Church, was originally founded in 1887. In 1904, the congregation moved into this, a newly finished Gothic Revival church designed by John H.G. Russell. In 1910 a 3-storey structure known by congregation members as the “Guild Hall” was added behind the organ, this is readily identifiable from the exterior to the rear. The church is notable for its graceful metal-clad spire which is a landmark in this mark of the city. The interior is galleried with a fan-shaped arrangement of pews on the ground level.
