William Roome (1865-1937)

Born in Birmingham and educated and articled in England before moving to Belfast in 1895. A short-lived partnership as Roome & Sykes with Herbert Sykes (1869-1956), before working on his own. He had strong religious convictions and eventually developed an interest in missionary work in Africa. He entered into partnership with Robert S. Boag (1886-?) as Roome & Boag in 1911. In 1916 he joined the staff of the British and Foreign Bible Society, for whom he travelled extensively in Africa.
