The new town hall was built on the site of the old which was destroyed in 1944.
Soon after the amalgamation of Kensington with Chelsea it was decided to replace the two old town halls with a joint Civic Centre in Hornton Street.
Faro was recognized as a town by King Afonso III in 1266 and it was by then that the first “town hall”
