Also known as the “Coke Memorial Church” after the Methodist preacher Thomas Coke, construction started in August 1884 with the church opening in 1885.
Closed in 1964 and sold. “The building is faced externally with Thompson’s red pressed facing bricks.
Church described as being ‘in classic style’ and built on site of former church of 1848 and adjoining school building.

Unusual and elaborate Methodist Church – the octagonal body of the church is obscured by the main facade and other elements added to create and elaborate whole.
Lovely little Methodist church with unusual front porch with attractive stonework. The spirelet to the top of the gable adds to the picturesque effect of the building.
In a town of spires and towers, this small Methodist Church on Northumberland Avenue has neither.
Only the school wing was constructed. Demolished in 2011 and replaced with a modern church and community centre.
