A listed art deco building, initially built as an advance factory for the Northern Ireland Ministry of Commerce. In 1947, Down Shoes Ltd was opened to manufacture less expensive shoes for the Lotus Group.

In the late 1940’s Michael Scott became involved with Córas Iompair Éireann (CIE) the National Transport Company which came into being on the 1 January 1945 as a result of the Transport Act of 8 December 1944.
The factory was built in 1958 for Pinehurst Textiles but the British Army took it over in early 1971 for use as a barracks due to its size and position.
