1880s – Convent of Mercy, Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford
In 1859 the Sisters of Mercy arrived in Enniscorthy to open a Convent to meet the needs of the poor. In 1860 two rooms were procured and classes for children and adults commenced.

Coloured elevation, side elevation, vertical section and half plan for altarpiece, featuring carved statues of St Patrick and St Bridget in niches at either side.
The foundation stone for the new convent was laid on 15th September 1879, but building work was suspended for a period during 1881-1882,
Built by voluntary labour and costing £6,000, this vast four-storey edifice was completed by 1883. Demolished.
A fine convent chapel by William A. Scott, who also designed the townhall in Enniskillen.
