Apolda was first mentioned in 1119. Until 1633 it was seat of a family of nobles,
St.Mary’s, Chepstow; All Saints, Penarth; & Welsh Church, Britton Ferry.
St Mary’s is the product of the work of several architects. In 1839 the original church on the site was constructed.
Originally a much smaller church on this site was enlarged during the early 1830s.
