That’s my point. You won’t want to drive there when a concert is on. Given that fact, then late night shopping and cinema’s/bars etc would be impacted. Concerts often open doors at 6:30 and earlier at weekends.

Only mentioning the above given the context of Dunnes Stores about face. Obviously, in the current climate they are concerned about pouring money into a new store when the retail sector is down, but also into a new store where development in the surrounding area is lagging. Personally, I would be concerned if I were Dunnes Stores if punters weren’t willing to drive there.

Yes people can be surgically seperated from their car John on occasion, but given the nature of the Homeware business Dunnes were pushing for this development, it’s not the kind of goods you would be willing to carry in bulk half way across town on a luas or otherwise. Typically food stores/homeware stores actually do require a significant portion of the clientele to drive there.

I heard this also. Pure speculation but I was purely wondering whether the comment in the article referring to Crosbie needing the money to fund other parts of the development actually referred to the tower? I don’t know and have no concrete info to support that view other than the inference in the article.
