1883 – English Church, Scuol-Tarasp, Engadin, Switzerland
Architect: Ernest George & Peto
In the second half of the 19th century as the number of British visitors increased in Switzerland due to rail travel and companies like Thomas Cook, a need arose for their own places of worship as an important part of the tourism infrastructure. The Church of England appointed seasonal or full-time chaplains to serve in Europe. By 1914 there were over 30 English church buildings in Switzerland.
