1958 – Technical School, Garristown, Co. Dublin
Architect: Brendan O’Connor
A small modern technical school erected on a tight budget for the VEC. A contemporary newspaper report stated: “Meanwhile Garristown’s new school cost 6,000 pounds and was two-roomed and in the centre of the village. Remarkably, apart from the main construction, the work was done by the carpentry pupils as part of their training. Tribute was paid to the contractor Mr Meehan and his team, Mr Holly, who was the instructor, and the architect Mr O’Connor.” Now used as the local community centre, but with much of the glazing removed and blocked up.
