Also known as Blayney Castle after the plantation castle nearby (from which the town gets its name),
Ballyleidy House was extensively remodelled and extended for 2nd Baron Dufferin, to form a substantial L-shaped building consisting of a 7-bay southern range and 9-bay range to the east.
Northland House was a three-storey, irregular classical mansion, dating in its final form from around 1840.
Built as a summer house for the Blayneys and used by the Hope family. Now largely disappeared, the front columns and wall are standing but covered in vegetation.
Until recent times Clandeboye, one of Northern Ireland’s finest surviving estates, was in decline, but regeneration has brought cultural and commercial renewal.
