Located across Kenmare Sound, and replacing a ferry service, the construction of the bridge took approximately one year and was completed in 1841.

The convent which opened in 1861 closed in the mid 1990s and has since been demolished.
Constructed for Sir John Columb around 1889-90. Now run as a countryhouse hotel.
Purpose built hotel constructed for the Great Southern Railways Company as part of their scheme to bring tourists to the Kerry area via their railway routes.
Designed by London engineers, L.G. Mouchel & Partners in association with an Irish-based engineer Pierce Purcell,
First unveiled in 2007, it was never clear where the funding for this vaguely titled centre was to come from.
