Part of an unbuilt scheme for Trinity College at Westland Row and Pearse Street. An underground walkway was to cross Westland Row from this conical prism to a new joint development between Trinity and CIE on then CIE-owned land around Pearse Station.
Prior to reunification, Chancellor, Helmut Kohl decided to present Berlin with a new history museum. It was to be built on the bend of the River Spree opposite the Reichstag Building,
A castle was built here around 1190 as a stronghold on the river bank, and in 1370 this castle was converted into a Palace on the orders of King Charles V.
