The Custom House is often considered architecturally the most important building in Dublin and is sited on the river front with Beresford Place to the rear.
The first known Custom House in Cork was built in 1724 in Emmet Place and is now part of the Crawford Art Gallery.
The old Custom House (now part of Pointe-a-Callière, the Montréal Museum of Archaeology and History) was built in 1836,
