Presumed never constructed, this sketch design by L.A. McDonnell was carried out while still in the employ of J.F.
Unsuccessful entry in a limited competition to design a new church in 1884. By 1887,
Caroe probably obtained the commission through his father, who was then the Danish Consul in Liverpool,
The third church on this site, the present church was commenced in 1883 and completed in 1884.
Built in the boom years of the early 1880s, the cost of this new church,
