Connecting the University of Limerick’s campuses on either side of the River Shannon, this bridge creates a new journey for users through the sensitive riparian landscape of the river and its flood plain, suspending them temporarily in the natural environment. The brief was to create a new link between the University’s established campus to the south of the river and its developing annexe to the north, which includes a major performing arts centre. The sensitive nature of the site required a bridge with minimum visual impact which would celebrate the lanscape and the river Shannon.
