Attended the Royal Academical Institution, before he became a pupil in the office of Young & Mackenzie, He started in independent practice at 41 Royal Avenue in 1886, his work was chiefly industrial and commercial. His sons, John H. Stevenson and William J. Stevenson, joined the practice after the First World War and carried it on after their father’s death as Samuel Stevenson & Sons.
