1802 – Castlecomer House, Co. Kilkenny Architect: John Johnston The original Castlecomer House, the family seat of the Wandesfordes, was built in 1638. It was burned down during the battle of Castlecomer in 1798.
1803 – Birr Castle, Co. Offaly Architect: Sir Laurence Parsons / John Johnston There has been a castle on the site since 1170, and from the 14th to the 17th century the O’Carroll family ruled from here over an area known as “Ely O’Carroll”.
