The Custom House is often considered architecturally the most important building in Dublin and is sited on the river front with Beresford Place to the rear.
The first known Custom House in Cork was built in 1724 in Emmet Place and is now part of the Crawford Art Gallery.
Completed in 1857, the two storey Italianate Custom House stands on the site of the old Ballast Office –
