Built as a bank, this is a fine red sandstone example of Richardson Romanesque. Formerly also known as the Germania Bank Building,
Notre-Dame Basilica (French Basilique Notre-Dame de Montréal), overlooks the Place d’Armes in the heart of Old Montreal.
Designed by W.H. Lynn after an architectural competition held in 1882, the building was completed in 1888.
