This campaign or protest is in no way endorsed by myself, irish-architecture.com or any of the organisations whose websites are hosted by irish-architecture.com. While Irish-architecture.com would welcome a proper statement from the jurors or indeed a juror, it is felt that this document and any protest that may occur will only muddy the waters and cause the DDDA to ignore calls for transparency. A small protest will be self-defeating as it will look like the only people interested in a fair decision are a handful in number.

Utilising proper channels such as the RIAI and RIBA are more likely to force a reply from the jurors. In addition to being members of the RIAI, at least one juror is a member of RIBA.

However a large protest might make a difference.

EL ARCHITINO is happy to see a reproduction of his art on this campaign poster. although he doesnt care about anyone else but himself, EL ARCHITINO can see no repercussion for himself over this campaign.

EL ARCHITINO is happy to see a reproduction of his art on this campaign poster. although he doesnt care about anyone else but himself, EL ARCHITINO can see no repercussions for himself over this campaign. EL ARCHITINO is so wealthy and powerful that any attempts to sue him over aleged involvement would result in both the DDDA and U2 being crushed like the relatvie flies they are.
EL ARCHITINO hopes this protest turns into a nasty and degrading scuffle between protesters and security guards.

EL ARCHITINO also hopes that there will be ample amounts of cheap wine at the opening.

pepe would like to inform el architino that the exhibition of entries opened over an hour ago and that he should (as guest of honour) be supping the wine and working his magic on the lovely ladies.

we all acknowledge tht el archintino as executive producer of “pop architect” as directed by pepe will have his own scheme included in the proceedings. and will of course be the winner!

beating the other schemes including those proposed by mr fog

but we deny that any impropriety has occured on the parts of pepe or el architino and that whilst the schemes have already been published the anonymity of the competitors wil be of paramount importance.

and that the judging process will be held in a topsecret location (abandoned basement) and the panel will be made up of darren brown, david blaine and paul daniels.

We have thus been unable to contact uri geller but obviously once we do lacate hium he will be the chairman of the jury.

we will not pay the jury for their time, but we will offer them a magicians circle to be located as a halo floating above the statues head.

EL ARCHITINO would like to add with dismay that he is unable to attend the opening of the exhibition due to it being high tide (which means he cannot get out of his offices situated on the banks of the poddle) he will however attempt to attend later today in a low key public appearance without his entourage of hookers.

U2 Tower Design Takes Centre Stage
    October 7th, 2003

Submitted as part of the international U2 Tower Architectural Design Competition, the 100+ shortlisted entries will be exhibited at the IFSC in Docklands from October 9th – 19th. The top 4 commended entries and the winning design by Burdon Dunne Architects/Craig Henry Architects of Dublin will also be on display.

The winner of the competition organised by the Docklands Authority to design a landmark tower development at Britain Quay in Dublin’s Docklands was announced in August. The winning design featuring a unique twisting tower was selected from well over 500 entries from across the globe. The proposed tower is to include an exclusive recording studio for U2 on its top two floors.

The Docklands Authority is currently reviewing development options for the proposed concept design and it is hoped that the tower would be developed during 2004/2005.

The jury specially commended a further four entries which will also be on display as follows:

    • Simon Innes and Stephen Barton, architects, London, United Kingdom • Thomas P. Mont Alto, Mont Alto Architecture Inc., Ohio, USA • Niall Scott, architect, Scott Tallon Walker Architects, Dublin, Ireland • Hervé Tordjman, HTA – Architecture. H. Tordjman & Partners, Paris, France The competition, which was prepared in association with the RIAI, invited architects to submit concept proposals for a slim “point” block over four or more substantial floors providing recording studios, offices and ground floor bar/restaurant/entertainment venue. Entries were submitted to a jury put together by the Docklands Authority which included a member of the U2 band.

The exhibition will be housed in a temporary art gallery from October 9th – 19th on Excise Walk in the IFSC (opposite the Clarion Hotel). Opening hours are Monday – Saturday, 11am to 5pm and Sunday, 12 midday to 5pm.
