I agree. I think this 60m limit is so annoying. I was in the city recently and I saw some really nice buildings, it’s just a pitty they are all so low. Some nice tall buildings, prehaps down at those chimneys in the Poolbeg area for example, would go down well I think in the long run. Is it not just an old industrial area anyway? All I ever see in that area is old/dirty bunkers and so on. Then again a nice skyscraper or skyscrapers in the area could destroy the lovely view of the chimneys! Yeah right! Building big could be something to be proud of and something the next generation could also be proud of. I’m sure they would agree. They say that Dublin City is changing. Is it really though? Other countries can do it, so why can’t we? There is plenty of space to accommodate tall buildings in the City of Dublin. I do agree that historical buildings have to be protected but surely there is room for both. It works well in London. Now that is a changing city! They could easily have some nice, tall, stylish and modern buildings in Dublin City. Why are they waiting and for what reason? Build now I say. If I had my way the city would be historical yet modern. So many people object to tall modern buildings in our city. Some of the buildings that have been proposed for this country are fantastic looking. Just choose you area well I say. Just build in the right area and build up, up, up (and stylish)! A building should have character. I’ll finish by saying; “It is time for change. We need a 21st century city to be proud of”.

P.S. Some of the buildings in the City of Dublin are a disgrace and very embarrassing. What must tourists think. Hawkin’s House makes the city look filthy. I can’t wait for this new makeover we all keep hearing about! Do Liberty Hall up too……… Hurry up!

I agree. It is taking far too long for these competition results to be announced. You are right in saying everything moves so slow here in Ireland. It just seems to take forever to get a good project going. Do you agree that Dublin could also do with a tower that has a view for it’s public? I would love to be able to dine in comfort at a hugh height and have a good view of the city. Somewhere that is open everyday and is nice to be in. The Gravity Bar is a joke compared to what other countries have. The view from the spike which we saw on the news was breath-taking! It’s a pitty only a handfull of people actually got to see the real thing, (those lads in the basket). Nelson’s Pillar had a view. It’s just a pitty I wasn’t around at the time. I am sure that a restaurant at 120m+ would do great business!!! I’d certainly go there on a regular basis.
