Thatched roof for new build

`My wife and I are planning on building a traditional home with modern materials, we are having major problems grtting pictures and plans for tatched houses, I will be drawing the house myself but need ideals, we are starting from scratch.
We would by very greatful if anybody here could assist.

Travel to Kilmore in Wexford and Dunmore East in Waterford.
Lots of tatched cottages there. Some modern contemporary tatched roof too!
There are local Tatchers living in the areas, so it should be easy to meet one. -
Are you thinking about the traditional big room with bedroom over small room with shed at right angles layout?

The Dutch use Thatch as a modern high tech roofing material with good moisture diffusion.
Designs that take advantage of the malibility of thatch can be achieved.
Lime and hemp walls can work well or timber frame.
I wouldn’t recommend concrete. Hire an Dutch Architect/ building physicist and an Irish Planner. Irish Architects don’t do non homebond materials all that good. (Bit like my grammer) -
Has anybody any idea of the cost per m2 for thatching?

Talk to your insurance company before you get too far down the road here. They usually regard thatched houses as poor risks, and may have specific requirements before they will extend cover.

Good point, I will try find some insurance companies and ask what they look for.

Hope you don’t mind if I asked this question again.
I have been asked to look at the cost of renovating and re-thatching a cottage in Co Meath, and wondering has anyone an idea of the costs involved in re-thatching per sq, m Probably on 50m2 in the whole job.
