:confused::confused:Whats getting built beside the U2 site????? Anybody have images of the proposed buildings, its partially underdevelopment at the moment and to be finished in Q3 2009. Is it part of the proposal originally proposed development by liam carroll . DCC wouldnt allow the development go ahead because of the lack of sufficient amount of work onsite over 5 years or did they???:confused::confused:

Is State Street Bank moving there???

      Original proposal and the site.

Not long for the decision on the U2 tower(31 OCT)!!! Cross fingers

Is this thing part of it? Hardly lucky enough to get the above built right? Seeing as its somewhat interesting it might contravene planning laws…

That State Street building looks really good.

Usual Docklands rubbish with some colours added in a desperately shallow attempt to make it “interesting” and sadly, in the context, it works. What is that highrise thing above? Is that the same site? Years of boom and the best we can do is rip off a faceless 1980s corporate america as apparently that’s what “prosperity” looks like. The bust may yet save us from ourselves.

Whatever about the coloured panel block, (that one strikes me as pushing out the boundaries of superficiality), who ever is responsible for this block beside it should be disbared from practice, or sent back to school.

There’s room for ‘ordinary’ buildings in any streetscape, but to take a prime quay front opportunity like this and deliver this monotonous, repetitive, uninspired, dismal effort is close to unforgiveable. Worse than that, the fact that it appears to be an apartment block, presumably intended to be sold off fragment by fragment, means that it won’t even have the ‘demolish after twenty years and build better’ option that the several ‘Corporate HQ’ design duds on North Wall Quay possess.

I don’t want to be too harsh (being conscious of my own design screw-ups), but even simple things are done badly here. The half-hearted colonnade that only half lines up with the fenestration above, the miserable proportions of the ground floor, the soulless window and balcony design, the bland stone facing and the token effort at composition at roof level, if this was on Barrow Street or out in Sandyford, you’d just shrug your shoulders and walk on, but here! on Sir John Rogerson’s Quay in the heart of the Docklands regeneration, this is a bit disappointing.

I’m inclined to agree with s_s that the coloured panel block is going to look cutting edge beside this.

What are you supposed to do on those super-thin balconies?
