Old one torn down (I don’t have any pictures – any help?). Demolition process:
and some new structure on site (2 weeks ago):
Any idea what it will be like? I presume it will be new Bank of Ireland building but wonder how it going to look like? Couldn’t find any details for planning so I don’t even know who’s architect for that one?

I swear I tried to find that on Dublin Council web with no succes, but looks like now I just typed “ranelagh bank” and BINGO:
Impressive – 4 times bigger than existing and twice bigger than everything around:
And looks like thay cut all car parking spaces from the site (12?). Hard to belive that they got permission for that..

Judging by the date on those drawings – 2005 – I’d say that’s an old scheme – I seem to remember some hooha about that site a few years ago

That appears to be an older proposal. Permission was granted in 2009 for a revised design. Reg Ref 3765/08

Would apppear so. Although according to DCC’s ‘high-res’ (cough!) scanner this is being replaced by a black square with an aluminium louvre.

I drive past here each evening so I’m watching with interest to see what comes back up. The old buildng was a bit of a shambles. I’m told B of I are moving back in when its built.

I see there a “picture” of what the new building will look like up on the hoarding. I’ve only seen it from the car. Looks very modern, better than what was there before, no doubt, but would it “harmonise” with the general buildings around it??

Bank of India?
Have you have seen the thread “World Most Expensive House ” If that’s what they do for houses in India I think this Ranelagh development would be far too modest for Bank of India’s taste!!! 😀
