I was coming throught Pearse Street Station this morning and could not fail to notice how grubby the place has become.
Weeds are growing out of the walls both inside and out.
The roof has had netting installed to catch parts that are falling from it in heavy rain and wind.
Some of the repair jobs that have carried out look like they have been done by a five year old.
Surely one of the busiest stations in the country needs to maintened better than it currently is!

Next, you should walk outside and notice how grubby the whole city has become. It’s really only an issue if you’ve got a dirty station in a clean city, but how is anybody supposed to notice the difference in Dublin?

I walk past the entrance to the station every evening. I agree, its extremely grubby, I am always glad I don’t have to go inside. The pavement outside is very uneven, which results in large pools forming when it rains…..not great when you think of the number exiting the station at peak times.

Of course it’s Pearse Station, not Pearse Street Station. It’s actually on Westland Row (it’s former name).

If Pearse station is ever upgraded, I hope CIE do a better job than they did on Connolly station.

I was under the impression that they are waiting until the Interconnecter work begins until they give the place some TLC. That roof is going to be a huge job to refurbish.

If they do refurbish it, they should keep the present form, but there is a great opportunity for all sorts of activity to be inserted under the arch – making this part of the city an attraction in itself. And isn’t this station the original terminus for the world’s oldest rail passenger service (allegedly)?
