Old Footpaths

At present the footpaths at the bottom of the road I live on are marked out to be replaced. They are in very poor condition and definitly need to be replaced. However, does anyone know how I would go about getting my county council to retain the granite curb-stones as part of its redevelopment? It would be a pity to see them being destroyed as they are one of the only examples of these left around the area that I live in.
