I’m having huge problems staffing up my office for some major national and international projects that we have just been awarded with staff that are actually any good.

I’ve stopped using the major recruitment agencies as all they’ve been sending me are complete feckin wasters, most of whom have either no experience, huge language difficulties or can’t be trusted to run a job without extensive supervision, even though I’ve specifically told them that these types of people are unacceptable.

I’d be grateful to hear from anyone who has had better results with other recruitment agencies, or better yet, any decent staff that fit the bill!

Edited to say: Email me if you dont want to broadcast 🙂 bee-kay@eircom.net

We are currently based in North Dublin. Within easy reach of Airport and city. On a major bus route, with good amenities in the locality. Feel free to contact me if you can recommend any agencies or staff.

      Thanks.

I think that, where agencies are concerned, they will fire out as many as possible as the consultants get paid a relative pittance and rely on commission to earn their wage. It’s a case of: throw enough shit at a wall and some of it will stick.

In my office we currently have 19 different nationalities and I have to say that, on balance, “overseas” staff are better skilled than their Irish peers.

The problem lies in the management system – or lack of – in place in many offices. Architects like myself with 10+ years of experience can be simultaneously running 5 major projects at different stages. The number of available staff to assist is not the issue. The problem, as you point out, is finding people who are able to think and act for themselves and who require only limited direction and advice. That is a difficult quality, however, to assess in an interview, either for recruitment consultant or Architect. 30 day trial periods might help but their is so much work out there that people don’t need to take that risk.

Anyway, good luck. Might e-mail you myself!

      burge,

I think you’re spot on re recruitment agencies – hence the post! I was just hoping that someone in my position had had a better experience with some of the smaller companies & could recommend same.

I suppose you could be correct re overseas staff however, any ones that have applied to work here have either (1) Crap english or/and (2) zero irish experience & would require constant supervision initially in order to get them up to speed with regs and proceedures – This may be okay in a large office environment, but not where there are limited senior staff available to supervise.

Why not email me – you sound like just the caliber of person we’re after! 😀
