I would consider that public access to architecture exhibitions to be a very important part of educationing Ireland about architecture.
Yet the only dedicated space is the RIAI basement, well off the beaten track in Merrion Square. More importantly it is CLOSED at weekends, when people have time on their hands to visit musuems, galleries etc.
Why?
We need more exhibitions.
More exhibitions that are central and easy to access.
Exhibitions away from the professional organisations to as not to intimidate the ordinary man or woman in the street.
While at the exhibition of the entries for the O’Connell Street Monument, I was struck by just how many people were wandering into Wood Quay to see it. There is an interest!!!!
