      From The Irish Independent:

      “End of era at McAllisters

A NORTH Co Dublin landmark is to close. McAllisters’ shop and petrol filling station, overlooking the Swords Road junction at Malahide, has been 70 years in operation.

But come April 29 it will open no more. Changes in trading patterns, increased competition, shifts in consumer demand, security etc all contributed to the decision to close.”

Will it be more apartments in it’s place, I wonder

Snr Geraghty is it an original Deco Garage or is it post the Licencing of the motor oils business in the 1960´s?

Well there will be the costs of decontimination which one must opresume after 70 years operation as petrol station would imply a long time of quite lax environmental law.

I suppose the million dollar question is what else would you do with a 1/4 acre site in Malahide?
