On Thursday DUBES are hosting Trasna’s 2nd panel discussion in the ‘food fights’ series in Trinity College, Dublin. The panel will throw light on the negative views of rural development promoted by the environmental lobby and the European Union. Shirley Clerkin, from An Taisce, will highlight the destructive impact on the Irish wildlife, whilst Richie Flynn will speak in defence of Irish farmer’s- especially fish farming which is currently the focus of environmental opposition. Alan Matthews has written widely on the greening of agriculture and Tony Gilland, of the Institute of Ideas, contests the rural myths and urban prejudices which lie behind anti-development ideas.
Come along for what will be a lively and stimulating debate.
