After some recent study of Dublin City I have recognised that a number of buildings are not protected such as The Central Bank, The Hendron Building along with many others. I was just wondering are there any other buildings that should be protected and are not and on what grounds??

      Hi,

The Hendron Building is of architectural merit and I feel that it adds immense character to this particular area of the city. The building tells a story of the industrial age of the city and its loss would not be acceptable under any means. Recent applications for its demolition and redevelopment have led to a renewed appreciation for this particular building and has led to other questioning the demolition of certain similar buildings in the city.

Jamsie – agreed on the Hendron – like it a lot myself – do you know who the architect was?

I’m not sure I’m trying to find that out myself, it’s a wonderful landmark building with a commanding presence in the area.

Cavewoman, I’m not sure are there any other buildings that should be protected, Central Bank could be a key one for the future a fine example of brutalist architecture in Dublin. I often wonder myself are there any other building which have been omitted from the list?!
