Hmm, probably moving kitchen, building new bathroom, utility and transforming previous kitchen to bedroom ,but those are my ideas , looking for someone to advise on maximising space and plans, or anything to point me in right direction, for instance
does an architect simply provide plans or oversee from start to finish
Is it too small a job for most (and builder does this) or do some specialise in the domestic market
Are architects /designers prices beyond most personal budgetsAs ive never built, extended, or had any reason to connect with the building/architecture/designer world before I have no knowledge and to be quite honest have found such information VERY difficult to find.

Maybe the forum could place a permanent guide for the uninitiated on commissioning architects:
Here goes:
RIAI Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland – http://www.riai.ie (Institute representing qualified architects in the state
They have a list of architects which work on domestic projects
RIAI Guide to working with your architects http://www.riai.ie/index.html?id=7041
RIAI awards website – http://www.riai.ie/gallery.html?type=regional for a selection of small projects extensions etc.
AAI website – http://www.aai-ireland.com/ awards section for a selection of small projects extensions etc.
Irish Times – Property Section – Every Thursday
Various Home and interior Magazines, self build and Home – lots of newspaper shops
Google Search – http://www.google.ie use search words for architect Dublin Ireland Domestic Extensions awards
When a list of appropriate architects are found call them to arrange a visit and interview them

They can only provide plans, or can oversee whole build.
Its too small for some. But there are some that do alot of domestic work.
No, prices aren’t beyond budgets, but they are one of the more expensive ways to go. But the designs aren’t standard.
Have a look at the AAi link that shadowed posted. They are some award winning domestic products there to give you aan idea of what to expect. -

The reason you hire an architect surely is to make more of very little, to exploit whatever budget is available and make a return on the investment aesthetic or otherwise.

I don’t think it is entirely appropriate selling goods or services on these discussion threads

Why not?
Fortunately there is the possibility of expression, word and publicity without to offend to the others.
