I see from the AAI’s calendar that the awards are on exhibition from tomorrow Monday 19 April – but it omits to mention where the exhibition is being held…
      Anyone know?
      Thanks

DOH …went up this evening expecting to slug a glass of wine but door was locked and tumbleweed rolled past… caught a glimpse through the crack in the door … looked interesting.

Yep 9 to 5 only it seems – though at least it is open on Sat and Sun next also.

The slug of wine comes thursday week when they present the awards and launch the book apparently.

From an AAI alert that went round this morning:
The annual Exhibition of “AAI AWARDS for Excellence in Architectural Design” will be open to the public from Monday 19th to Thursday 29th April 2004 inclusive. Admission is free. Opening hours 9.30pm to 5.00pm, 7 days a week.
The official presentation of the Downes Bronze Medal and the AAI Awards will take place on the evening of Thursday 29th April at 6.30pm.

Ta for all that! By the way… it’s on the fifth floor and I’m sure you don’t have to pay… if you make it right to the top then maybe a guinness will suffice!

Went up today… very nice gallery and lots of interesting panels…. funny though that some panels lack an impact in the space while they are in reality very condensed and detailed when you look closely.
I wonder if it’s time to ask for submissions on CDR? It would allow for more information and dynamic 3d models etc.

      Wow!

      ANOTHER ONE….

      Its like Architectural convention weekend…

OPW in Stepthen’s Green – European Prize for Architecture…. open Sat/Sun 12-4pm… or weekdays, 9-5…

      17th April – 30th April.

yucky, computers! ๐Ÿ™‚ cost Ros, basically,… who is going to take time, responsiblity and have the necessary skills to administer all of that…. considering that the AAI usually do well to keep the microphone and slide projector working for the duration of a lecture… ๐Ÿ™‚

Fine bunch of lads and ladies in the AAI… thumbs up guys. There web site is a great help/resource too now.

I know an architect who once gave a lecture in NASA in the US of A… and the slide projector would not work…. so it happens… ๐Ÿ™‚

      http://telematic.walkerart.org/datasphere/telezone_index.html

that was a nice idea… to build a real life model of a sim city kind of thing via the web…. and have the real life article visible on exhibtion in a University someplace in Austria… but someone from Vienna later told me, that it doesn’t actually work… ๐Ÿ™‚ That instead people go around at nightime and actually ‘glue’ the bits on manually as best as they can. Dot Bomb!

Nice idea though. Much more subtle and clever than a count down clock to my taste… dunno. Kind of the Sim City equivalent of a computerised voting system… except without the governments bank vault.

Just came from the Guinness warehouse… and the nice people up there have locked the door to the AAI exhibition. Having went to the trouble of getting up there in the first place… I just said ‘hang it’ and went home again. ๐Ÿ™
