every time a story emanates from Marine Road, from the monkstown ring road debacle, to the Bord hauling them over the coals re Sandyford, to the clamping fiasco, to the proposal to reintroduce traffic on George’s st, and now this, all points to a complete shambles of a Local Authority. Unimaginative Councillors kowtow to every wish of their overprivileged, overinfluential electorate with too much time on it’s retired hands, while an underfunded understaffed executive dare not even attempt to do the right thing, lest it offend the Killiney and the Blackrock massifs…

There is no planning in Dun Laoghaire. There is no vision for the county, a county which counts an international ferry terminal, Dundrum Town Centre, Killiney Bay, the Dublin Mountains, and some of the most desirable areas in the country as it’s attractions. And it’s been let stagnate by vested interests, official inertia, adminstrative cowardice, and nigh on corrupt management in recent years.

We’ve had threads upon threads rightly criticising Dublin City Council over shopfronts and roadworks etc. But to truly witness useless local governance, take a trip out the N11 cycle track, or the Rock Road, read a few planning stories, and finally gaze in awe at Dun Laoghaire Shopping Centre or Stillorgan Village…

I reckon local resident Paul Hewson should turn his attention to local democracy rather than world affairs, because every 3 seconds a sh1te decision is made in Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Hall… click.. click.. click..
